Danny is an award-winning lawyer with experience advising conglomerates, financial institutions, investment funds and start-ups on M&A, capital raising transactions and ongoing corporate compliance matters. Having served as in-house counsel and company secretary of one of the major Chinese financial groups, and as a software engineer by training, Danny understands the needs of clients particularly in the financial services and technology sectors – he is able to offer not only sound legal advice but also practical solutions to achieve commercial objectives.

Danny is known for advising on complex transactions involving Listing Rules, Takeovers Code and first-of-its-kind structures. He advises companies at different stages of their development on capital raising, cross-border M&A and corporate restructuring – from early-stage financing to pre-IPO, from IPO to secondary offerings (e.g. rights issue, open offer, block trades, etc.), as well as from spin-offs and public takeovers. He also advises State-owned enterprises, sovereign funds, venture capital funds and asset management firms on an array of investments.

Standing at the intersection of law, technology and finance, Danny currently serves on the Company Law Committee, the Innotech Committee, as well as the Investment Products and Financial Services Committee under the Hong Kong Law Society. He has been appointed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong as Adjunct Assistant Professor to design and teach a course on legal practice and technology. He has also been appointed by the Honourable Chief Justice as a Practising Solicitor Member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel.

“Having Danny as our counsel meant I always felt reassured that the transaction was in excellent hands… Danny’s legal knowledge, diligence and professionalism are exceptional.”
