Chirag is a corporate and transactional lawyer and is a part of the firm’s corporate practice group, with a focus on technology and data protection laws. His practice mainly consists of acting for promoters, management teams, corporate clients, and institutional investors on a wide range of domestic and cross-border transactions including acquisitions, joint ventures, restructuring, private equity investments, primary and secondary equity issues, and other corporate transactions.

Chirag consistently assists clients in tackling intricate challenges related to cutting-edge technologies, employing a pragmatic and business-oriented methodology. Apart from transactions, his practice further consists of acting for and advising promoters, management teams, and corporate clients on several laws, and he is well-recognised amongst his clients for his proficiency in laws pertaining to data protection, cybersecurity, payments, digital lending, blockchain, technology transfers and assessments, online gaming, telecommunications, hospitality, health care, insurance, F&B, and product specific laws.

Recent Key Assignments

• Advised clients on strategic private equity investments and court approved amalgamations, acquisitions, business transfer and asset transfer transactions.
• Advised a major global technology firm on structuring and launching its payment aggregation business in India, working closely with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), ahead of the evolution and refinement of fintech regulations in the country.
• Advised leading retail, e-commerce, technology companies in setting up their businesses and entry into India.
• Advised clients on legal issues pertaining to payments and financial regulatory aspects including operation of pre-paid payment instruments, tokenisation, payment aggregators, payment gateways, payment data localisation, and UPI payments.
• Representing and advising various large corporates, private equity funds and Fortune 500 multi-national corporations in M&A transactions ranging from acquisitions of companies, business transfers, amalgamations and reorganizations, and day-to-day business operations with sector expertise in manufacturing, engineering consulting, retail, e-commerce, technology, hospitality, health care, dairy, F&B sector, infra-projects and energy. Indicative list of clients includes Amazon Group, Appario Retail, Oneplus Technology, Herbalife Group, Dish TV, Samara Capital, Religare, Tata Nexarc, Ultratech, NPCI, BharatPe, Denso International, Hikvision, Sonalika Group, KRIBHCO, and VGL Group.
