“The most valuable connections for me are with other GCs who have experience scaling companies across multiple African jurisdictions and navigating the unique compliance challenges this presents.”
C-level executive managing legal, compliance, audit and risk professionals across numerous markets. Dual qualified (NY/England) lawyer with experience working in New York, London and now Nairobi.
At Weil, I worked primarily on US and European corporate finance transactions like IPOs, leveraged and investment grade financings and restructurings.
At JPM, I supervised transactions and counselled market leading businesses across the EMEA region on legal, regulatory and compliance matters.
At the FCA, I was the lead supervisor of a systemically important financial institution.
At M-KOPA, I serve as an Executive Committee member and chair the Management Risk Committee. I treat my business partners like clients and routinely advise on corporate, commercial, governance, regulatory, IP, HR, data privacy, tax, litigation and compliance matters, to name a few! I help spearhead transaction and investor management, including the ground breaking Stanbic-led USD 100 million-equivalent local currency receivables financing in 2017 and the USD 250 million facility in 2023, our Series D and E equity rounds, and numerous other debt and convertible finance transactions.
I have extensive Board experience, both through M-KOPA where I serve as Group Corporate Secretary and through external advisory engagements including GAIL, Ikigai, the London Community Foundation and the HIV Law Project.
I am also certified as an IAPP CIPP/E, CIPP/US and CIPM professional.
“I'm keen to contribute my experiences in developing legal frameworks for asset financing models that serve underbanked populations.”
