Head of Legal & Compliance

“The board doesn’t just want a lawyer who manages risk anymore; they want a partner who helps drive the company’s direction. They expect us to find a way to ‘yes'.”
As Head of Legal and Compliance at Makyol, a leading multinational company in the construction, energy, and tourism sectors, I oversee all legal operations and corporate compliance frameworks across a diverse portfolio of high-value domestic and international projects.
With over 10 years of legal experience, I specialise in construction law, international arbitration (ICC, ad hoc), FIDIC contracts, public procurement, energy projects, real estate and zoning law, corporate governance, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and have represented stakeholders in complex disputes under international rules and cross-border legal regimes.
My expertise includes drafting and negotiating EPC, PPP, and design-build contracts, managing legal risk in infrastructure projects, resolving disputes arising from delay, variation orders, and force majeure claims, and navigating regulatory environments in both public and private sectors. I have led arbitration cases involving multi-million dollar claims and successfully implemented legal risk mitigation strategies at the board level.
As the chief legal advisor to executive management, I lead the development of compliance programs, including anti-bribery policies, ethics codes, due diligence processes, internal investigations, and training programs. I coordinate with technical and commercial departments to align legal strategy with operational execution and project delivery goals.
In addition to legal leadership, I mentor in-house legal counsel and foster a collaborative legal culture focused on proactive governance, accountability, and sustainable business practices.
“The biggest lesson I have learned is that the best in-house lawyers aren't legal encyclopedias; they're strategic navigators."
