An interview with Filippo Cossalter, Head of Legal, Europe, Middle East and Africa in UAE.
How would you describe the state of the GC Community in your region? How has it changed since you first moved in-house?
I moved to Dubai at the end of 2015, and since then the in-house community has mirrored the UAE and the region: vibrant, in continuous evolution and fun.
The community has also reflected the same evolution of the complexity of the work done out of Dubai, more and more international and global, becoming increasingly more sophisticated and featuring more skilled and rounder profiles – at all levels of seniority.
Why is expanding your network important to you? What kinds of connections or discussions would be most valuable to you?
We are all struggling to cope with our day to day work, which makes us very inward focused so I am very interested in peer discussions coming from different industries, insights from government agencies and about the external environment. Also a platform to see younger profiles in action.
What do you want to achieve by collaborating with other GCs and senior in-house lawyers? Are there specific topics, challenges, or experiences you’d like to share or learn more about?
Use of technology to improve the team’s productivity, best practice on talent development and retention, external environment and new trends in my industry.
