An interview with Dr. Beatrice Vos, Partner/Managing Partner at Stonehaven Cozmix Group/Stonehaven Transactions AG in Belgium.
How would you describe the state of the GC Community in your region? How has it changed since you first moved in-house?
It has become more fluid and international with the location of work being less relevant for geographical responsibilities. I think this has to do with more remote working arrangements – team members living in, say, Belgium may look after the legal matters of the Nordic countries or even another continent. There seems to be less focus on location and more focus on capabilities, expertise and preference when roles and responsibilities are being allocated. This comes with great opportunities but also some challenges.
Why is expanding your network important to you? What kinds of connections or discussions would be most valuable to you?
Firstly, connecting with people, exchanging views and socialising with fellow lawyers is one of the most inspiring and enjoyable parts of my professional life. Secondly, given my focus on business development transactions, connections with BD experts at other companies are key to the success of my practice.
What do you want to achieve by collaborating with other GCs and senior in-house lawyers? Are there specific topics, challenges, or experiences you’d like to share or learn more about?
Exchange on a broad range of relevant topics with GC’s throughout Europe or even worldwide, with a particular focus on the life sciences sector, M&A, BD transactions, IP, team management, use of modern technologies, AI, smart contracting solutions, law firm management, etc.
