An interview with Christine Bruhn Tuxen, VP, Group General Counsel at Leo Pharma A/S in Denmark.
How would you describe the state of the GC Community in your region?
There is a strong community in Denmark and my impression is that there is an equally strong community in the other Nordic countries, however there is not a strong community across the Nordics despite the relatively small geographical span of this region. And to me that is a shame as we are missing out on valuable sparring and inspiration.
How has it changed since you first moved in-house?
The GC community in Denmark has changed over the past 2 decades I have been in-house to be less focused on regulation and the legal professional skills and more focused on the GC role as a business leader.
Why is expanding your network important to you?
It is important for me to expand my network to gain more connections in the pharmaceutical industry but also to get inspiration from others in regard to the transformation of the legal function.
What kinds of connections or discussions would be most valuable to you?
It is most valuable for me to connect with other GC with similar or larger size teams and also GCs that are further ahead on the digital journey.
What do you want to achieve by collaborating with other GCs and senior in-house lawyers? Are there specific topics, challenges, or experiences you’d like to share or learn more about?
I would like inspiration from others and to inspire others. I’m very interested in legal operations and how to drive operational excellence within legal and compliance. I have been driving transformation in the legal function in various industries for the past 2 decades and would love to share my experience, particularly on how companies can maximise the value of their legal function as this function holds unique insights and skills to drive operational excellence not only in the legal function itself but across the company.
