Lawyer Zou Menghan is a senior partner at AllBright Law Offices in Shanghai. She graduated from Huaqiao University and holds a master degree from East China University of Political Science. She joined Law and joined AllBright Law Offices in 2003.
Ms Zou’s primary practice areas include banking and finance, bankruptcy restructuring and liquidation, litigation and non-litigation legal matters related to startup advisory and investment or financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. Throughout her career, Ms. Zou has specialised in financial services such as banking and insurance, providing comprehensive legal services to numerous commercial banks, overseas banks (including those from Europe, the U.S., Japan, and Hong Kong) and their subsidiaries, branches, or their representative offices in China. She has also delivered sustained compliance services for novel and complex projects, including structured transactions, debt restructuring (cross-border liquidation), mortgage-backed loans, credit asset securitisation, FATCA compliance, anti-money laundering checks, FCPA anti-corruption and case prevention management, Cross-Boundary Wealth Management Connect, and the establishment of investment-managed rural banks, receiving widespread acclaim. Additionally, Ms. Zou has over 20 years of extensive experience in real estate and construction law, covering areas such as land use rights transfers, transfers of construction in progress, engineering bidding and tendering, demolition and relocation, construction project tracking services, urban renewal and redevelopment, industrial park construction and operation management, real estate investment and financing, restructuring of real estate enterprises, establishment of project companies, project negotiations, credit investigations, legal notarisation, commercial real estate operations (malls/hotels), fund supervision in commercial housing transactions, and contract reviews, encompassing every stage of real estate development and related legal matters. In social welfare area, Ms. Zou was honoured as a “2012 Legal Aid Expert Lawyer of Shanghai Pudong New District” and received the “2013 Pudong New District Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers Nomination Award.” In 2015, she was recommended by the Pudong Legal Aid Center and awarded the “Shanghai Leading Talent Lawyer Award.” In 2017, she was appointed as a special mediator for the Pudong New District Professional People’s Mediation Center. She served as the council member for the 6th term from 2019 to 2023 and was reappointed for the 7th term from 2024 to 2027 of the Shanghai Pudong Foreign Investment Enterprise Association. In December 2022, she was appointed as an off campus mentor for postgraduate law students at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law.
Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Zou was the main editor Company Law Research Series Vol. 7: Commemorative Essays on the 20th Anniversary of China’s Company Law in October 2014 and contributed to Legal Studies Series on Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions Vol. 1: Interpretation of Investment Regulations for Mainland Enterprises in Taiwan in June 2011.
