An interview with Roger Tanios, General Counsel of Indevco Group in Lebanon.
How would you describe the state of the GC Community in your region? How has it changed since you first moved in-house?
The GC community varies by region, but many areas have seen an increase in collaboration and networking opportunities. Since moving in-house, I have observed a shift towards more open communication among GCs, driven by the need for shared solutions in an increasingly complex legal landscape.
Why is expanding your network important to you? What kinds of connections or discussions would be most valuable to you?
Expanding my network is crucial for gaining diverse perspectives and insights. Valuable connections would include discussions on best practices in compliance, risk management, and innovative legal technologies that could improve efficiency. Additionally, sharing information about the results of specialised lawyers and their approaches can greatly enhance our in-house work.
What do you want to achieve by collaborating with other GCs and senior in-house lawyers? Are there specific topics, challenges, or experiences you’d like to share or learn more about?
By collaborating with other GCs and senior in-house lawyers, I aim to share experiences around navigating regulatory changes and crisis management. Exchanging insights from our experiences can facilitate our roles more effectively. Learning from others’ successes and challenges in areas like stakeholder management and diversity initiatives is also a priority.
